Things That Might Be Destroying A Healthy Relationship

It is hard to believe that a relationship has been destroyed overnight as there are certain subtle and destructive patterns that are responsible for eroding the healthy bond between spouses. Such inappropriate attitudes have all the potential to convert a fairytale relationship into a Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) super fight.

It is never too late as, if particular destructive behaviors or patterns are identified, then it is possible to rebuild the relationship again. Here are some ways through which people will identify what things might be ruining a healthy relationship.

Mind Reading

Trying to read one another's mind is the most destructive habit that sets a relationship on a death spiral. Due to this behavior, people generally assume instead of listening and judge instead of being compassionate. Remember that when individuals try to read another person's thoughts, intentions and motives then they no longer concentrate on their words. This particular tradition dehumanizes the partner and does not give sufficient space for explanation.

Criticism

The most destructive aspect of any relationship is criticism, which has been the basis for many separations since ages. The reason is that criticism does not attack the behavior of an individual; instead it targets the person directly. Criticism can be healthy only when both partners learn how to criticize in an acceptable manner or help the other one to improve in a positive way.

Expectations

There is no issue in keeping expectations from life partners but it has been observed that many times people have unrealistic expectations from their spouses, which becomes reason for a damaged relationship. Therefore, it is extremely important that people should not overburden their better half with so many unrealistic expectations that the person fails to live up to them. The best way to deal with this matter is to set healthy and agreed-upon rules that will set the other person free; allowing them to flourish rather than enslaving them.

Comparison

Comparison is an extremely destructive attitude that destroys a healthy relationship within no time. Many times, partners have been observed comparing their current relationship with their former one which results in an immense disaster as such kind of comparisons are unfair. One has to bear in mind that nobody is perfect so testing a current relationship on the basis of a past relationship is a great way to kill the relationship before it even starts. If your ex-partner was so perfect then why did the relationship not work out?

Therefore it is extremely important that you give plenty of time to your spouse so that they can prove themselves to be the best spouse for yourself.
